Frequently asked questions

What is a CMMS?

CMMS stands for computerized maintenance management system. A CMMS is software that helps maintenance teams keep a record of all assets they are responsible for, schedule and track maintenance tasks, and keep a historical record of work they perform.

Why do I need Fiix?

Fiix is a cloud-based CMMS that will make your current maintenance operations more efficient, and provide more detailed reporting and accountability.  You will be able to more easily track work orders, schedule tasks, receive external work orders, monitor asset history, manage inventory, and perform preventive maintenance that will lead to longer asset life and less work outages.

For an organization like Boy Scouts of America, a cloud-based CMMS is particularly important because it gives the leadership team visibility over all councils and camps, ensuring you are getting the support you need.

What is the cost?

*Initial cost is $276 per year, per user ($23/month).

  • In this context, a user is someone in the council—typically a Ranger—designated to oversee the council property and maintain the maintenance record.
  • In the case where a council has multiple properties with multiple Rangers, the DSS can initially act as the main user.
  • Initially, Rangers will all have access to a admin account to log assets and work orders.

Who pays for it?

As part of the partnership, the councils will purchase seats (user accounts) that individual camps can then purchase from the councils.  Should you have specific questions on how this process will work, please contact your council representative.

Can I cancel at any time?

Your contract will be for a one-year term with auto-renewal on the anniversary date. If you are unhappy with Fiix and wish to end the contract, you will have the option to cancel at the time of renewal.

How do I purchase Fiix?

Contact your dedicated Account Manager, Max Materne. He will process your purchase and get you going. His contact information is:

How easy is it to set up?

Setup is straightforward. When you first login, you will set up your user account(s), add your assets, and then create and assign work orders as needed.  There are “how-to” videos for each action you will need to take. Fiix will also host webinar sessions to get councils up and running.

How do I get set up?

After you sign up through your account manager, a user account will be created. You will receive an email on the steps you need to take to set up your CMMS.  Don’t worry—We will be there every step of the way to help.

How difficult is it to transfer data from my current system?

Transferring data varies depending on your current system, but it’s generally straightforward. If you are currently using another CMMS, you can likely export your assets and work orders into a CSV file and upload them into the Fiix CMMS. If you are using pen and paper, or another non-digital system, you will need to create your assets and work orders in the Fiix CMMS manually.

What kind of support is available?

In bringing this software package to BSA there’s been established a development team of professionals, Rangers, and property personnel who will be available to help guide you as you get started, be available to deliver some hands-on training, and be a support mechanism so you’re not left out in the dark! Knowing the coming value this software will provide the company, there are people in place who are dedicated to making this work for us all. The software is easy to use, easy to learn, and will provide us individually, as well as collectively, very valuable information by which the organization as a whole improves. So, join with us now to make these needed improvements!

Is there training available?

Fiix has created a comprehensive, hands-on course for Boy Scouts of America council administrators who are ready to quickly ramp-up their CMMS skills and knowledge. Our instructors will guide you through the implementation process, outlining the most efficient order of operations, as well as best practices and techniques, to set up Fiix for your council.

This training has been specifically designed for Boy Scouts of America, so all modules and topics are focused on Professional tier features and functionality that will be used at BSA sites. To maximize the benefit from your CMMS, we recommend administrators sign up for this class before deploying Fiix at their facility.

Will it work on Dial Up?

Yes, but as with all sites and applications, this can impact speed performance. The faster your connection to the internet, the faster the application will work.
